The journey starts on Sunday the 5th of June in the morning at Körnerschule. Class 6A is ready to go to Ireland. Frau Professor Petermichl and Frau Professor Düsing are coming with us. The bus is already waiting and gets us to the airport of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. After some time we can finally get on our plane and we enjoy the flight to Dublin where another bus picks us up.
We are in Ireland and we are all fascinated by the beautiful landscape with its green hills. There are cows, sheep and horses everywhere. Our destination is Galway, a nice little town where the people are very friendly and the streets are full of small shops, musicians and artists. We meet our host families, who live a little outside of Galway, and see their apartments and houses for the first time.
The next day, we visit an old castle before going to the Cliffs of Moher from where you have got a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Our bus driver is very nice and during the drive there and back he tells us a lot about the history of Ireland.
Tuesday is the first day for us to have class, we start with a language test and get divided into two groups. The class in the Atlantic Language School with our teachers Katy and Mark is interesting and we also have the chance to learn about Ireland’s culture and history. In the afternoon we have the chance to see the city centre of Galway. On Wednesday, after school, we do a treasure hunt and go to the cinema to watch “Money Monster”, a thriller with George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
The next day, we spend the afternoon on our own and meet in the evening to go bowling (which is a lot of fun). On Friday, which is our last school day, we visit the “Aquarium” where we can see lots of different animals like sea horses and starfish. We spend Saturday in Dublin where Connor, our English assistant who happens to be from Dublin, shows us the city. Then we spend the night at a hostel and on Sunday, we go home again. Our teachers from Körnerschule made up a really cool program for us and our host families were all so nice and did everything to make this holiday comfortable. There was also time for us to go shopping, buy souvenirs or relax at the beach.
The trip to Ireland has been a great memory that we will not forget any time soon. We have all enjoyed this trip very much and would like to say thanks to everyone who made this possible.
