Our first two days in Eastbourne
7 a.m. We met at the trainstation Linz Hbf. Eight hours later we got off the coach and the beautiful English sun kissed our noses. Curious as we were, we explored Eastbourne for the first time and enjoyed a walk along the blue sea in the warm sunshine. In the evening our host families picked us up.
The next day we met in the English language school. We had a nice time and learned new things about Great Britain. After school our teachers picked us up and went with us on a hiking tour to Beachy Head. When we reached the cliff top we took off our shoes to connect with nature and were rewarded with a stunning view of the sea, the countryside and of course the beautiful lighthouse of Beachy Head. It was a fantastic day and after a meal in town we all went home to our host families.

Our Day in Brighton
As we took our first step off the train, we were immediately greeted by the warm sun and overwhelmed by the astonishing sight of Brighton Train Station. But our journey had only just begun.
On our way to the breathtaking Brighton Pier, we strolled through the bustling North Laine, admiring its charming shops as we window-shopped. Along the way, we were captivated by the stunning Royal Pavilion, its magnificent architecture standing out in the heart of the city.
Afterwards, we split up, giving everyone the chance to explore Brighton and its unique lanes at their own pace.

Our Day in London
On the 22nd of March we went to London by train. The journey took one and a half hours and at Victoria train station we met Julia. She is a friend of Mrs. Petrischek and she showed us some important sights of London. The tour started at Buckingham Palace. From there we walked through St. James‘ Park to see the Horse Guards, which was very exciting. Afterwards we visited Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London, where we saw the Traitors‘ Gate and the Tower Bridge. Our last stop was Covent Garden and from there we had free time for the rest of our stay. After another hour of travelling by train, we finally arrived back in Eastbourne at seven in the evening. It was an overwhelming experience to see all these famous sights.

Our Day Trip to the Cathedral City of CANTERBURY
After an exhausting two hour bus drive we finally arrived in Canterbury. We had a fascinating tour through the breathtaking Cathedral and the old town centre. It was a wonderful experience to see the gothic architecture and to learn a lot of interesting facts about Thomas Beckett. The town itself was like a medieval jewel. Although it was a rainy day, we enjoyed our day in Canterbury and we would recommend visiting this unique place.

Our trip to Hastings 24th March
In the morning we took the train to Hastings. After a short walk we arrived at the West Hill Cliff and took the railway up the hill. We went to the 1066 castle ruins and had a look around. Although there is not much left of it, it was very interesting and we had a great insight into the medieval life.
Afterwards we went down by railway again and walked to the Hastings Fishermen’s Museum. There we learned about the life of the fishermen in the past centuries and the present. We walked back through the old fishermen’s village and still had some time left, so we decided to have jacked potatoes. At 6 pm. we took the train back to Eastbourne. All in all it was an interesting and exciting day.

As always we started our day at the language school. After school we heard that we had free time until 6 p.m. We all met for a last time at the Eastbourne Pier where we summarised the best moments from our journey. Afterwards we went back home to eat one last meal with our lovely host families. This was the end of a wonderful week.
